British Historic Racing - Update and Darley Moor. - Malcolm - 09-04-2021

As we have said before, there are a few changes to our seasons racing as a result of the C-19 restrictions, BHR will kick start the 2021 season at the Darley Moor circuit on the 15th and 16th May.

It is, though, disappointing that we are having to postpone having our AGM at Darley. Having looked at the logistics at putting the meeting on whilst complying with the various rules and regulations we have reached the conclusion, that to be fair to all of our members, it is better to wait until later on in the year. Once we have a clearer idea of how the lifting of restrictions pans out and when we are able to move freely across the country then we can make some definitive plans.

Entry forms for Darley Moor race meeting are still with the ACU but I am sure will be released in the next couple of weeks. Once available they will be on the forum and the website to download, or by email from bhrsecretary@vmcc.net

Darley Moor will allow entry onto site from 4.00pm on Friday 14th May - but only to those who have pre booked. The entry forms will include a section for each riders supporter (only one per rider) so please ensure this is completed to prevent disappointment. Three wheeler crews, please make sure that you complete a separate form for the passenger and their supporter. The site will be open until 1 hour after the last race on the Sunday and then has to be vacated.

All of the paddock parking, scrutineering, signing on will be marked out asper the circuits C-19 requirements as will specific instructions for those attending. Darley Moors infamous toilet blocks will be open and additional portable-loos have been booked. It is still the case that, within the current restrictions, competitors are required to be in self contained accommodation and are limited to one supporter only (excepting children) and will need to be named on the entry forms.

Riders are advised that they will need to have a suitable paddock stand for their machine when going for technical inspection and they should be in their full racing attire with their dog tag showing. The full procedures and more will be posted at the circuit.

Session order and allocations will be published in the programme and noise testing in the same order as the practice sessions. For noise testing, riders and drivers will need to be in full kit and please make sure that the engine stroke is clearly marked on your machine so that the noise testers can maintain social distance.

Our planned visits to Anglesey and Pembrey in June and July are looking very promising as Wales looks to open its borders up and let the rest of us in to visit their beautiful countryside and circuits that they have to offer. Hopefully by then our Manx members will be able to visit the mainland and possibly those from the continent.

More details to follow on this and the rest of the season as and when we receive updated information from the ACU and the government.

The organisers are operating this event in accordance with Government guidelines, advice and instruction so as to minimise the risk to Competitors, Marshals and Officials and the public from Covid-19 and by participating in this event entrants will be required to take all necessary steps to protect themselves and others from the risk of infection.

(Note that there are two track days on the 12th & 23rd April being run by the circuit, to enter these contact Darley Moor directly as these sessions are completely independent from BHR.)

Stay Safe
