The Southern 100 Motorcycle Show supported by the IFGL Group has attracted several the top local road racing teams to the Race Paddock on Saturday 10th July 2021, along with plenty of nostalgia with Classic racing bikes that have been victorious on the 4.25-mile Billown Course.
Early confirmations have been received from Charmers Racing; The People’s Bike Team; Prez Racing; Quayside Racing and Wobbly Bob Racing. The 3-Wheeling Sidecar Media Group are promising some interesting and varied Sidecars and crews including the Crowe brother’s oufit. Whilst Silicone Engineering Racing, sponsors of the Post TT Road Races are showing some of their iconic racing machines, some of which have created history around the Southside course. Other racing exotica is promised from Chris McGahan; Chris Palmer; Dave Madsen-Mygdal, Kneenja Racing; Bob Dowty and Ducati ‘experts’ the Rich’s Bool and Hawkins. In addition to Southern 100 Racing promting their 2022 road races, other Isle of Man road racing organisations present include the Manx Motor Cycle Club; Isle of Man Scrutineers Association; Hogg Motorsport; Andreas Racing Association and the IOM TTMA. Club Chairman, George Peach said: ‘Normally we would be in the final preparations of ensuring that the Colas Billown Course was ready for the start of the Isle of Man team Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races with many of the competitors setting up their bases in the Race Paddock. However with the cancellation of the 2021 races due to the Covid pandemic, the idea of holding a Motorcycle Show was put forward and we have received an incredibly positive response and as a club we are looking forward to welcoming the race teams that have confirmed their presence, some with some very iconic racing machines which have added to the history of the Southern 100, Pre-TT Classic and Post TT Races through the years, along with the other stall holders. ‘With over 50 stands we hope the weather will be kind and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Southern 100 Motorcycle Show and hope that it will be as popular as ‘the friendly races’. The Southern 100 Motorcycle Show takes place in the Race Paddock on Saturday 10th July between 10.00 and 4.00pm, with Evening Entertainment at the ‘Party in The Train Triangle’ between the Sidings and Viking Public Houses from 5.00pm till 11.30pm with Live Bands. What better way then, than to spend a Saturday riding your ‘favourite’ mount down to the Race Paddock for the Southern 100 Motorcycle Show on 10th July and entering your bike into one of the various classes that would suit you ‘pride and joy’ and you may well come away with a unique rosette, a cash prize and even more! There are a total of 10 Categories that entrants can compete for, they are: British; European; Special Modified; Bobber/Chopper; Japanese; Long Tail: Best Prepped Race Bike; Café Racer; American & Classic. One of the ten winning machines will be voted Best Machine and will receive a specially engraved Trophy and £100.00 plus other prizes. Another pastime of motorcyclists is searching through Auto Jumble items and whilst you are awaiting to see if your ‘pride and joy’ has a rosette attached, amongst the many things you can do is have a root through the various Auto Jumble stall that will ab in the Race Paddock. The Vintage MCC – Isle of Man Section, will also be displaying a selection of their members machines during the day. The Southern 100 Motorcycle Show supported by IFGL in the Race Paddock commences at 10.00am and features Road Racing Teams and riders; Bike Show Competitions; Trade Stands; Food Vendors; Auto Jumble; Bouncy Castle; The Station Garage Young Trials Team and the World Renowned Purple Helmets and much more! Something for all the family. The Show ends at 4.00pm. To keep everyone well-nourished the popular Southern 100 Catering units will be present plus Fire and Ice; Simply ‘V’; Barista Express and Manx Ices. The Train Triangle Live Music Session starts at 5.00pm and continues through to 11.30pm and is sponsored by The Sidings and The Viking Public Houses. Acoustic Atmosphere, Trevor Shimmin and The Bird and The Beards have been confirmed so far. Car Parking for the Southern 100 Motorcycle Show is available in the ‘Day Paddock’ adjacent to the Race Paddock with overspill parking available at the IFGL Car Park close by. Camping and Motorhome facilities are available at Castletown Football Club Stadium, whilst there is the excellent bus services from Douglas and Port Erin (with very convenient stops at both venues and Castletown Centre) with two (2) late buses in each direction after the evening’s entertainment has finished. There is also the Isle of Man Steam Railway in operation to arrive in style. Castletown is certainly the ‘place to be seen’ on Saturday 10th July 2021. |
