ENTRIES OPEN FOR TT 2022 - Malcolm - 04-01-2022 ENTRIES OPEN FOR TT 2022
With less than six months to go until the start of the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races, entries for the world’s ultimate road race have officially opened today.
Following a pandemic-enforced break for road racing on the Isle of Man, the 101st edition of the Tourist Trophy will begin on Sunday 29 May with opening qualifying in an extended afternoon slot. Monday to Thursday features the traditional evening qualifying sessions from 6pm before Qualifying Week reaches an exciting climax in a new afternoon session on the Jubilee Bank Holiday of Friday 3 June; introduced as part of a raft of safety improvements, giving riders more time on the TT Course whilst also giving teams and competitors more recovery and preparation time ahead of the first day of racing. Four days of racing action gets underway on Saturday 4 June with the curtain-raising RST Superbike TT held over 6-laps, followed by the first of two refreshed 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT Races. Monday 6 June sees the first Monster Energy Supersport TT Race as well as the RL360 Superstock TT Race – both held over a 150-mile, 4-lap race distance. The third race day on Wednesday 8 June features an updated Bennetts Supertwin TT Race and the second outing of the week for the Supersport machines. Two weeks of on-course action then culminate on Friday 10 June, with the second Sidecar encounter followed by the blue-riband, 6-lap Milwaukee Senior TT. Despite a two-year break, the racing looks set to be as hotly contested as ever and, for the very first time, fans the world over will be able to tune in and watch every second of the action… LIVE! Full and uninterrupted coverage of every race and qualifying session comes courtesy of a new online channel launching in the spring of 2022, with all the action, stories and talking points – both on and off track – streamed directly to homes and devices on every corner of the globe. However, it’s not just online where fans can enjoy greater access to the TT. For those making the pilgrimage to the Island, the introduction of the TT Fan Park is set to transform rest days and time away from the track. Boasting full and uninterrupted live coverage on the big screen, fans can also look forward to two whole weeks of lively entertainment, with live music, signing sessions, games, competitions, and much, much more. Now into its 115th year of history and returning after the longest layoff since the Second World War, the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races marks the start of a new era for the event that the late, great Murray Walker dubbed ‘the greatest motor-sporting event in the world’.
