Crossing points - Frieman - 14-12-2022

Our third visit to the races next year and wondered where the vehicle crossing points are situated when roads are closed for racing? I’ve been told there are two, one I know of is near Braddan Church but where is the other or others?

RE: Crossing points - captainsparkledotcom - 14-12-2022

I've seen the road open adjacent to The Railway pub in Union Mills, I think to go up Strang Road to Nobles, is there one in Ramsey too anybody?
Must admit it's not something I've ever really taken much notice of, I've always stayed put! Sorry.  Confused

Ballanard Road

 Douglas, Bottom of Bray Hill
between Stoney Road and Tromode
Road

 Douglas, Peel Road between the
Quarterbridge and Strang Road,
Union Mills

 Crosby, between Old Church
Road, Eyreton Road and
Ballavitchel Road

 Michael, Barregarrow crossroads

 Kirk Michael, between Douglas
Road Corner and Faaie ny Cabbal

 Ballaugh, between Station Road
and Glen Road

 Lezayre, Sulby Glen crossroads

 Ramsey, between Glen Auldyn
and Gardeners Lane

 Ramsey, between Christian

 Ramsey, between Lheaney Road
and Barrule Park

 Onchan, between Signpost

Wow! I would never have dreamt there where so many!
Cars must have driven past us & I never noticed!!
All that intense concentration watching the bikes, then zone out between races!  Confused

Surely not all vehicle crossing?

It was more for if our prospective Homestay is inside the circuit and we are watching on the outer.

A little bit of googling yourself and you could have answered your own question rather than query advice given.

https://www.visitisleofman.com/isle-of-man-tt/all-you-need-to-know-tt-2022/our-island-guide

From the guide:

5. CROSSING PLACES AND ACCESS CORRIDORS
In any interval, the Clerk of the Course may authorise traffic to cross or proceed
along the Course at the places specified below, at such times as they may
specify:-

 Douglas, St Ninians crossroads
between Ballaquayle Road and
Ballanard Road

etc
etc

plus of course the access road on the old railway for light vehicles under the bridge at Union Mills

Apologies for taking so much of your time.

RE: Crossing points - Splashdown - 16-12-2022

No need to apologise. I have been going to the TT (and Manx) since 1953, and I found this information helpful.
To be fair, these days, the 4 lap races are over in under and hour and a half, so there's no need to move.
I can see that you may wish to cross the course between races.......and there appears to be many more delays these days.

Same here Nick, (not going for quite as long, tho'!)
I googled & couldn't find anything up to date & I have to admit Chris_Sav, I've not seen that guide!  Icon_redface

RE: Crossing points - Smokin Haddock Racing - 23-12-2022

There is only one crossing point DURING races, and that is the access road under Braddan Bridge. As Chris stated above, the Clerk of the Course may, when the roads are closed, but there isn't any actual racing taking place, open up various crossing places.
