An important message to those who are attending the TT/Manx Grand Prix - Nasher - 31-01-2024 An important message to those who are attending the TT/Manx Grand Prix If you are planning to go to the Isle of Man riding motorcycles/mopeds (or any other vehicle) on L plates using a provisional licence: A UK PROVISIONAL LICENCE IS NOT VALID IN THE ISLE OF MAN (also applies to provisional licences from other countries) You are NOT LICENSED and therefore NOT INSURED to ride/drive there If this affects you, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you do have just over 16 weeks to pass your test .... I've given up now, I know some that have done it, never been stopped, so obviously it's not true! (that's their reasoning!) RE: An important message to those who are attending the TT/Manx Grand Prix - boon345 - 01-02-2024 Is this a new thing , I went over 1969 and was on l plates RE: An important message to those who are attending the TT/Manx Grand Prix - captainsparkledotcom - 02-02-2024 A quick google shows 2000 as the earliest mention (that I could find) I know it was discussed on the old "official" forum a few times pre 2011. Presumably it comes down to the same law that prohibits a provisional licence holder to drive/ride when in any other country. |
