Mercedes Sprinter 311 CDi LWB hi-top motorhome. 2.1l diesel engine, 131,000 miles
First registered March 2007, re-registered in the Isle of Man 2017.

This is a Mercedes Sprinter that has been converted to a motorhome (and re-registered as such, so insurance is cheaper than a panel van) to a very high standard.  We have a detailed folder from the owner that had the conversion carried out showing every step of the conversion and so that you can see the insulation installed and quality of fit out.

The van has been serviced regularly (not every year due to the low annual mileage) and has also had regular habitation inspections, the most recent being in April this year.  The 2.1l diesel engine allows it to cruise comfortably at motorway speeds, whilst still delivering good fuel economy.

The van comes with the following features:

·      Double passenger seat in the front cab so that 3 can travel in comfort.
·      Double high level bed at rear of passenger compartment with custom made memory foam mattress
·      Seating area converts to a single bed, or double bed using additional cushions.
·      Plenty of room to stand up in the living area
·      Gas hob
·      Sink with hot and cold running water
·      Gas/electric fridge
·      Oven
·      Hot air cabin heater so the van can be used in cold weather
·      Hot water heater
·      Blackout thermal made to measure window blinds to provide thermal and light insulation when sleeping the van (also includes blinds for the front cab to keep it warm/cool)
·      Three vented skylights for light and fresh air
·      Fresh water and grey water storage tanks underneath
·      Shower/toilet cubicle with pull down sink and shower over
·      Seating area with storage under and table
·      Lighting, mains plug, 12v and USB sockets
·      Large solar panel on roof to allow off grid camping
·      Inverter to allow solar charging/mains hook-up operation and power management system.  Two heavy duty leisure batteries (in addition to the main van battery) ensure plenty of charge can be stored from the solar panels or mains.
·      Plenty of storage space
·      Quality heavy duty awning with curtain sides (made by The Awning Company) so that you can actually add additional sleeping accommodation or working/living space outside the van.  These are very expensive awnings and we have even been asked whether we would remove it from the van and sell it separately!
·      Rear garage compartment fully galvanised steel lined and with power and plenty of shelving/storage – can be converted to full height using a very cleverly installed movable bulkhead that utilises the bed space while travelling and then allows you to move the bulkhead back when you’ve reached your destination.  It has carried go-carts and would accommodate smaller bikes depending on their size.  The garage is 1.85m deep and 1.2m height with the bed bulkhead to the rear or 1.8m when forward.
·      Fox alloy wheels (heavy load rated, specifically for Mercedes Sprinter vans), with four good tyres.  Also comes with the original steel wheels as spares.
·      As well as the van we will be leaving lots of kit such as wheel ramps for levelling the van when parked up, fully kitted out kitchen (kettle, pans, plates, cups, cutlery, etc.), double canvas seat, folding table, mains hookup lead and plenty of other things so you’re good to go from the minute you drive away.

It’s a 17 year old van, so as you would expect there are some minor things that aren’t perfect, but has been lovingly cared for and is ready for a new adventure with its next owners.  There are a few marks and rust patches that have been touched up on the bodywork, there is a little fraying on the side of the driver’s seat, and the tap to empty the fresh water tank under the van has broken off, so at the minute we use a bung!  The shower tray has a few small cracks that have been epoxy sealed, but any water simply leaks straight under the van anyway.

This is an incredibly cheap way of travelling around in comfort and has many features not seen on other motorhomes.  It would be particularly desirable for anyone wanting to visit the TT (and you know how much accommodation can cost) as it would allow you free accommodation, but would also provide a means to bring your bike across (subject to measurements and fitting in the rear garage) and parking up around the course for viewing in comfort so that you can get dry and have a hot brew when the weather inevitably turns!  We loved parking up at Bungalow and using the van as a base, but it’s also a great way of getting to a viewing location the night before and being there in a prime location ready for the start of racing.
