Yep Chapeau to Mark - I'm afraid I have to count myself as one of the people who thought that ship had sailed.

I couldn't be happier to be wrong.

Hopefully he can find a bit of peace with it all now. That said I just read an interview with GT who said " you don't need to keep risking your neck - just park the bike and walk away" - Cav not having any of it - wants more wins! Still a racer at heart.

Well done Sir Mark!! Yes a fantastic achievement that crashes and illness made all the more difficult.

Watched it yesterday and he certainly made a fool of those who said he was no longer the fastest in the peloton and that the ship had sailed.

He could retire with his head held high but I suspect he's not done yet.

It's a great shame the Olympics have prevented the ceremonial final stage in Paris this year, that would have been a fitting tribute to the greatest sprinter of all time.
