TT Golden Years cine film - what year is it? - koala27 - 18-02-2025 I've been watching this: Golden Years Isle of Man TT - it's an interesting bit of history but the owner of the film doesn't know what year it was taken - any ideas anyone? I've worked out that it's 1967 or later, based on a van number plate (E reg Transit @ 3:02 into the video). Apart from that I've no idea. You guys did a good jiob ID'ing the bikes in my 1984 thread so I thought you might be able to able to work it out based on maybe some of the buildings and terrain in the shots. I think the bike shots themselves are just a bit blurry to see clearly unfortunately. The channel owner seems to do cine-to-digital conversions and posts some of them on youtube. I notice he's got another TT one where he's worked out the year: 8MM FILM ARCHIVE ISLE OF MAN TT RACES 1964 - worth a look if you're interested. Cheers Koala PS I'm not advertising anything, I've no affiliation to the channel owner. I just happened to be browsing some of his content. RE: TT Golden Years cine film - what year is it? - sticky - 18-02-2025 Without close ups of the riders. it's hard to get any clues! However, among the clips at Cronk y Voddy crossroads I'm fairly sure I saw Frank Whiteway on a 500cc Suzuki proddie bike and he won that class in 1970, so I'm going to guess that's the year. From memory, the weather was decent that year! RE: TT Golden Years cine film - what year is it? - koala27 - 20-02-2025 Thanks for that Sticky - sound good. It's a bit tricky to be sure without close-up of the bikes and there's not even many decent shots of cars/number plates. I thought it might be possile to work it out from the buildings, road signs etc - I assume they changed over time and maybe someone might know when: ![]() ![]() ![]() Bit of a long shot though I guess. |
