Berlin motorcycles - Anonymous - 08-03-2005

Yes, I've been to Berlin yet again but this time found a "statue" at the ICC centre which was composed of two motorcycles racing (with riders of course) possibly BMWs or Zundapps.... Now I know thar Berlin had the Avus circuit but can anyone out there tell me why this monument is here in Berlin at this site.?

The memorial is for the "AVUS" . It is build with original stones from the legendary "Nordkurve" . The sculptures of the riders where made 1935 in bronze. The rides are Ernst Henne on a BMW and Ewald Kluge on a DKW.

Thanks very much for the info......It's not so easy to find but it is worth seeing, Cargo, I hope she will find it.

I've just been staying in the Hotel that was used in the "Bourne Supremacy"...
It's huge and very beautiful (Westin Grand Hotel)

I love Berlin and it's a pity they don't still have the "AVUS" even though it was like a double carriageway with hairpins at each end.

Thanks again for the info Mike.
