Info Needed on painting - Anonymous - 06-04-2005
Hi All,
I recently completed the following painting of Mike Rutter taken from one of my own images at the TT. I visited in 1998 and the year 2000. Can anyone confirm the year of this action going on in the painting. Year, Race, Bike, who won and where did Michael finish. Thanks,

Looks like 97 going by the helmet. MR rode for V&M/Honda Britain on the RC45.

Hi All,
Thanks so far but I am certain that I did not attend in 1997. I was there mostly for the gathering of all the Honda riders from over the years and I am sure that was in 1998. Also, in this Race MR was #5 and Phillip McCallen was in the pits and not racing.

It was taken during the 1998 F1 race If I remember and Michael was part of Honda,s 50th Anniversery Team that year cant remember were he finished though...all the best Irish Ago...

Thanks Kevin 'Ago'. Have managed to sort it out now with results etc. Seems MR finished 2nd with Ian Simpson being the winner of the race.

Yes it is. Thank you for your kind remarks. The painting is a little better than the Jpeg photo so hopefully the print we are producing will be equally as good.

The picture is from 1998. Michael finished second in the F1 to Ian Simpson, having originally led, before slowing when one of his contact lenses fell out going down Sulby Straight! This resulted in him having laser surgery on his eyes shortly after.
He again led the Senior Race (the epic Simmo / Bob Jackson race) before dropping back when he got a puncture.
Look out for some news re Michael and the TT coming soon!
