WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 16-08-2005 Please date these riders with names and machines. The front riders helmet is a bit of a giveaway http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ISLE-OF-MAN-TT-RACES-SOUVENIER-MOTOR-BIKES-IN-PLASTIC_W0QQitemZ5228863065QQcategoryZ27408QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 16-08-2005 its well before my time, but what about Dunphy and Heckles? Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 16-08-2005 The rider in front looks a bit like Ron Chandler? Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 16-08-2005 John Knowles I would have thought, Pykey. Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 17-08-2005 Maybe the leader is Chris Conn? the other i will have to think more? Elwyn were are you. Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 17-08-2005 Definitely not Chris Conn Pykey - his helmet was black/white with a small no 7 in a circle at the front. I still reckon John Knowles. Elwyn? Must confess I'm too busy/lazy to hunt the archives just at present, but if this goes on I'll have to!!! Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 17-08-2005 I have always wondered so dug out the postcard, very high start numbers and card is from the 60's The programme with these high numbers was 1967 Senior, 106 ian Ablett,BSA and Alan Prange on a Matchless 107. Stand to be corrected Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 17-08-2005 Thank you Elwyn. Won't argue. Now why does it not surprise me that you have the bloody postcard?? Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 18-08-2005 I haven't got any pics of these guys, but I think it is the 1968 Senior. The leading rider looks like Adrian Cooper (Norton, 107), followed by Mick Burns (BSA Metisse, 106). The second bike looks to have the same Metisse type fairing I had on the Velo Metisse. Burns rode eight TTs without a finish, Cooper rode the Harrow Suzuki and Norton, four finishes from seven rides with a best of third in the 1971 500 Production race. Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 18-08-2005 Would he be the same Mick Burns who passengered for Mac Hobson and the father of present day rider Chris Burns? See you next week Bill Re: WHO are these riders then ?I - Anonymous - 18-08-2005 See BOTH of you next week...coming over Friday. |
