Counting the Cost - Hilary M - 25-03-2006 - charlie hulse - 25-03-2006 Pity they didn't have my phone number, I could at least have saved them the cost of the hotel as I am in Warrington, close to the M6/M62 junction. - Tom Loughridge - 25-03-2006 - thewitch - 25-03-2006 Please record it here. - GriffMuss - 26-03-2006 - Hilary M - 26-03-2006 As you can see, they did make it home on the 7pm ferry. Thanks for your offer Charlie, but I fear that the van wouldn't have made it to you,or if it had,it wouldn't have got back to Liverpool! Can you believe that it cost that amount of money for an aborted weekend? Scandalous. - GarryD - 26-03-2006 Lets face it when has the acu ever had its members best interests at heart never. We had a run in many years ago at cadwell with jp, where he banned me for the day. At least we got the oppurtunity to tell him what we thought of him and his club. Racing is expensive enough for everyone without adding extra unnessary costs on top. Start charging the likes of them for hotels, fuel, ferries extra and see how long they last ! FC made a good point in another thread if only the riders would stick together, and say no we aren't having this and you can get stuffed. They all forget one important fact if it wasn't for the riders, they wouldn't be needed . - thewitch - 26-03-2006 Well said, Garry. So many guys feel vulnerable, though. if they speak up will they get entries? Several have expressed their views through me, or said what they think, to me, but not for posting. It's shocking that they feel like that, but they assure me they have good grounds for their belief. - Chris Maybury - 26-03-2006 I read "somewhere" recently that "Road Racing is one of the few sports where the competitors pay out huge amounts of money so that the spectators can watch them race free of charge." - Harry - 26-03-2006 Chris, I think the last part of your posting " the spectators can watch them race free of charge." is what really frustrates those in power who have interests in short circuits. Could it be that their ultimate goal is to force all racing fans into venues where they will have to pay for admission, pay for parking, and pay inflated prices for food, drinks, etc ? - Hilary M - 26-03-2006 I fear it will be stalemate unless riders are prepared to stick together, but the ACU know this.Maybe we should all join in a lottery syndicate and when we win we can afford to take them to the cleaners. In my dreams! - The Bag - 30-03-2006 I didn't mind paying out lots of money to race the TT course even if people could watch free of charge, what did I oppose to was racing at the likes of Scarboro, paying lots of money to do the event, paying an entry fee to the organising mafia and then seeing people having to pay the said mafia to watch me :?:   Russ - thewitch - 30-03-2006 Same mafia...similar problems.. |
