McQuarrie or McQuarie - thewitch - 19-07-2006 http://www.macquarie.com.au/ - Jan Grainger - 19-07-2006 Yes, The Macquarie Bank. And what they would want a shipping company for...goodness knows.....hmmm. Maybe to own a business in the Isle of Man? - thewitch - 19-07-2006 To sell off the assets...already sold the offices to the IOM government. Managing director's name is Hamish Ross, Pykey. - Anonymous - 20-07-2006 helen i have is email addreess but he doesnt answer emails as of yet? i wonder why, come on irish ferries you could do a better job also as to flying to the island why dont ryan air get involved? - thewitch - 20-07-2006 Write to him, Pykey, rather than email. There is some sort of agreement between the Isle of Man Giovernment and the Steam Packet, I believe, but it amounts to a monopoly...maybe they should look at that. I understand Easyjet looked at running Isle of Man services last year, but it wasn't a paying proposition. I sometimes wonder how the existing services survive as they are often less than half full. The Scottish services come and go regularly, and now there are only 2, where a couple of years ago there were about 5. - Jan Grainger - 20-07-2006 We flew Air Arann from Dublin to Iom, then IoM to Liverpool (Air Arann don't fly to Manchester any more). Service was good (despite being very hot in the cabin) and planes were fully booked. - Jan Grainger - 21-07-2006 Oh No, just watching a current affair show in Oz. The CEO of the Macquarie Bank who owns Steam Packet earns 21.2 million dollars Aus. per year, which is $44,000 per day, $5,000 per hour. He is only second behind Mr. R. Murdoch and 4th, 5th and 6th biggest earners here are all execs. of the Macquarie Bank. This is probably why the fares are expensive and will probably get even more expensive! |
