Don't know why everyone is taking the mick out of John's photo of the actual bus being used. Apparently its ment to make the feeling of early morning practice a little more like it was back in the good old days.

I will of course refute any suggestion that the bus is the same year as Cargo's 400...... but then again by the looks of it, it must be close. I will also back my good freind if anyone suggests that his lap time on this bus might be better than his 400 time, and eventually get him that rep he so deserves.

Lol Lol Lol

Hi Dave - welcome from the winter hibernation!

How's Willie?

Last Time - ian huntly - 04-04-2007

It is some years since I did a real good bus tour of the Island. It used to be a regular thing to do in the days before people brought cars and motorcycles to the TT. We had mystery tours and day trips to Port Erin and Port St.Mary !! The TT course was a whole day and we stopped in Ramsey to take on water, fuel and pemmican....

Frankly I'm looking forward to coming on the organised early morning practice simulation !..

Now see http://www.ianhuntly.co.uk/busstur.htm and digest......

The photo shows one trip we did a few years back which was unfortunately terminated when the bus threw a fetlock up on the mountain. We tried to take the back road down from Brandywell to the west side of the course. We ended up eating the driver and got back to Douglas three days later..The bus is still in the middle of the Island with trees, bushes and other vegetation growing through the floorboards...

Hope you are well John.......Bring tools !

That is just fabulous! I love it! Ooooh...Malcolm... are you bringing your tools and the survival kit...
Och, you'll be all right, Cargo and I are marshals... nothing fazes us..

- DCLUCIE - 04-04-2007

Hi Larry, hows things going? Looking forward to seeing you and everyone at the pre tt classic.

Yeh the old man (and I must clarify its my dad we are talking about and not any part of my anatomy, I just know what some of you are like eh John? :winkSmile, is well and will be at all of the races as normal.

- thewitch - 04-04-2007

I think I'll take a holiday somewhere safe....

- larryd - 04-04-2007

Nowhere, but nowhere, safer than the Billown paddock, Helen :!:

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

- DCLUCIE - 05-04-2007

Will be in the normal spot I think Larry, so will see if I can have a few beers with you sometime during the few days. Would be good to catch up with you, and as for the paddock being somewhere safe.... lol those scrutineers can be a little vicious at times Lol Lol  , they all know I am kidding and are good for those cups of tea and a little battenburg (have no idea how to spell that) lol
But I hope if anyone see's me doing the checks before scrutineering please say hi as I would love to put some faces to the the names.

Most of all have fun.....

- MV - 06-04-2007

Pamela and I will be parked (in the Bongo, of course. Its a silver camper van to the unitiated!) in the small area by the start line.
So, look us up.
Will wear my MV t-shirt, of course!

from 1907 - ian huntly - 06-04-2007

From 'Motor Cycle' June 5th 1907

I want a motor cycle
but cannot quite decide
between the rival merits of
the Fairy and the Clyde
the Singer and The Bradbury
the Matchless and F.N
the Norton, Kerry, Rip and Rex
the BAT and Phanomen

I sometimes think an N.S.U
would suit me to a T
but later on I feel inclined
to purchase a G.B.
Again my fancy hesitates
and covets very much
a Quadrant or a Clarendon
or a REX with metal clutch

At other times, to my idea
by far a better way
would be to get an L and C
or say, an L and K
but these selections are in turn
before the day is over
relinquished, and their places filled
by a two-speed Phelon-Moore

I wobble thus and hesitate
but can't make up my mind
I read the 'Motor Cycle' and
much good advice I find
But it doesn't seem to help me
for really - to be frank
I'VE NOT A BLESSED COPPER IN
MY POCKET OR THE BANK

So what's changed in 100 years ???

Reproduced from Nick Harriss superb book
"Motocourse History of the TT Races"

Anyone recognise these bikes from 1907 ???
