Bring back the ROUND BAR- "The Hilton" now "T - ian huntly - 15-05-2007
The Sefton Group has take over the Gala Hilton Hotel on Douglas promenade. It will be re named with its former title, the Palace Hotel and Casino.
Its the latest in a number of recent acquisitions and developments by the Sefton Group and Graham Ferguson Lacey their executive Chairman.
The Sefton Group have opened the Sefton Express Hotel opposite the Airport and have recently applied to increase its bed spaces and also to install a restaurant.
After the closure of the Castle Mona in November last year, they bought it.
However its not expected to be open again permanently for at least another year.

Those of you who ended up in the Palace Hotel Bar after the demise of the Dougie Bat will now hope that the new owners will bring back the round bar which was the meeting point for the famous, the fans and the rest.
Will the change of hotel name be made before the TT ??

From what I've read, Graham Ferguson Lacey said that within 5 years they want to have their new 5-star hotel (complete with casino, health spa, 4-screen multiplex, 150 bedrooms etc) built and open opposite the current bus station - I would infer from that statement that the Palace won't be open beyond that point, and the land will probably be sold off. As if Douglas needs more over-priced apartments :roll:
