WE STILL NEED YOU... IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED UP DO IT TOMORROW.

Helen if they moved some of the marshalls from the favourite viewing spots they would have plenty.

take a look at the following spots

Bray hill
QB
Ballacrain
Governors
must have been a bus load at Ballacrain the other night while Ballaspure was near vacant.
And this is from a traveling marshall

I can assure you, Colin, that at Bray Hill we are far from being over provided with marshals. We have never been above the absolute minimum needed to cover and would be delighted to have a few more to cover some of the little side roads.
There is no such thing as too many marshals.. PLEASE keep signing on, and if you haven't yet been through the training.. book now.

Manx Radio have just said that the senior race was scrapped due to lack of marshalls and the weather

- thewitch - 31-08-2007

A lot of marshals were booked on the Liverpool ferry and had to go. It would have been good if it could, like the Heysham one, have been delayed a little. However, the weather was certainly deteriorating.
On the subject of marshals, by the way, one of the reasons some places may seem to have lots is that a proportion of these are "newbies" not ready to go on the road, and therefore just able to do certain less risky tasks.. from where you're standing you can't tell that.
Anyway, sad end to a mixed Manx, but some superb riding and some great stories.

The marshal problems go on and on. I think they need a wage and then people would do it more or (not to sure if this done allready ?) to have free boat and hotel or b and b for there help to the racing.

Otherwise they could have no marshal no ride, so if you race yourself you got to supply a marshal. I have had to do that when racing motox and it was nightmare no one wants to marshal for you at all.

To provide a wage or free boat tickets would cost an absolute fortune. There are hundreds of us. You also would get some who came across then reneged, and it would add an enormous amount of work to TTMA team who already work outrageous hours.
Maybe a free raffle when you hand in your signed warrant card, with free flights/ boat tickets etc for the next year... maybe prizes donated by the big TT sponsors, and people like IOMSPC/ airlines/ Manx Radio etc etc.
Even a sandwich and a cup of tea each would be a lot of money, but the burger man at the bottom of Bray gives a very generous discount on all food and drinks to working marshals... others might too.
Any other ideas?

Why do flag marshals get paid or they used tooooooooooo

- thewitch - 31-08-2007

They don't any more. There used to be relatively small number and they were, basically, paid a retainer. Now all marshals are flag-trained.
