Toseland Makes BBC Shortlist - alf885 - 01-12-2007 BBC recognition, surely some mistake? Apparently not, good luck James Toseland. alf http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/sports_personality_of_the_year/7095288.stm - veefour - 02-12-2007 It will be a tough one, there are three or four worthy winners in this line up. But if we ALL vote for J.T. who knows. - renzo - 03-12-2007 fat chance,it will be some horse riding no personality at all toffee nosed twit,or a beer belly lager swilling darts player. :x - MV - 03-12-2007 Yes, I fear that bikers ARE rather persona non grata at the Beeb. Their standard of sports coverage slips further all the time. The jewel in the crown is the boat race! Then we have athletics and horsey stuff. I wish JT well and congratulate him for making the final list though spte - ian huntly - 08-12-2007 ANYBODY but Lewis Hamilton...PERLEASE.. Here's a question...Name any motorcyclists who have won this accolade in the past....?? Was one Barry Sheene ? or John Surtees ?? list - ian huntly - 08-12-2007 Not a good run of two-wheeled sport is it !! Here is the list of past winners http://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/Articles/Misc/SportsPersonality.htm - alf885 - 08-12-2007 John Surtees but not Barry Sheene http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/sports_personality_of_the_year/past_winners/default.stm alf - andy21aa - 08-12-2007 Ian, according to Wikipedia, Surtees won it in '59. Interestingly, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill & Our 'Enry have won it twice. - PeterCourtney - 08-12-2007 MV Wrote:ta at the Beeb. James Toseland did at least win the BBC North award - Yorkshire folk recognise success! - veefour - 09-12-2007 renzo wrote Quote:fat chance,it will be some horse riding no personality at all toffee nosed twit,or a beer belly lager swilling darts player. None of those in it this year, maybe a couple of losers or a suspected illegal substance taker !! C'mon you lot VOTE, just imagine if JT won. What an embarrassment for the beeb, i can picture it now, all the hastily found clips of the 1960 TT with out of sequence sounds of Nortons etc. - veefour - 09-12-2007 Ian Wrote Quote:ANYBODY but Lewis Hamilton...PERLEASE.. Ian it could be worse, a boxer who lost perhaps !!!! - GriffMuss - 09-12-2007 James just played a blues on the piano, LIVE, he was brilliant ! GET YOUR VOTES IN NOW ! before 845pm tonight, I THINK ?? or it might be 945pm ? - Baylon McCaughey - 09-12-2007 to vote for James Toesland , call ; 09015222209 Vote NOW - veefour - 09-12-2007 Been trying to vote since the programme started but cannot get through, i wonder why. - Baylon McCaughey - 09-12-2007 me got through no bother, 8 calls i made!! - veefour - 09-12-2007 Made it at last. - alf885 - 09-12-2007 And 4 more. alf - Arthur Lawn - 09-12-2007 Also could not get through on housephone but believe it is because this type of number is barred on my landline.Ok on mobile though. Good to see John Surtees there looking so well. - Stella - 09-12-2007 Nice one... Honestly never saw that coming, So Lewis Hamilton comes 2nd again ! Wonder if James Toseland was 4th ? Just for a moment i thought it was him @#1 8) winner - ian huntly - 09-12-2007 Peter, boxing came first and third, sad comment on todays society innit. Mind you it was afirst when father and son won ( my wife said she thought their name was Kawasaki !) Mr Toseland was a fine ambassador for two-wheel sport and it was a pity he didn't get third !! And my prayers were answered, it wasn't the rookie after all. No mention of John McGuiness or the centenary TT. Here's to next year when we might get a few winners for a change. I was so pleased to see Sir Bobby Robson get his award. What an ovation !! |
