JG Williams on a Triumph - pykey - 26-12-2007 Ok you experts what year did the late JG Williams race a Triumph at the TT and was it a works machine? i recall he crashed one just past Ginger Hall. - Bill Snelling - 26-12-2007 In 1973 he finished second in the Production race on a Triumph, entered by Boyers of Bromley. I think the incident you refer to was a practice crash that same year - Tom Loughridge - 26-12-2007 Yes it was the Boyer of Bromley Triumph the front tyre either failed or had a very rapid puncture and came off the rim, think he hit the kerb. The man could not be found at first, John was catapulted a great height into the air into tall conifer trees which broke his fall onto someones front lawn it was just after the flat out right hander after Ginger Hall with a bit up of a front wheel lift (in those days). You could say he stopped at the location rider okay. At a bit of a loose end this Christmas are we Pykey? Happy New Year then. - pykey - 26-12-2007 thanks for the replies it appears John's widow has been invited to a Triumph night in Oswesty so i will f/ward the details. - Baylon McCaughey - 26-12-2007 Did Tom Herron or someone stop to help? - Tom Loughridge - 27-12-2007 Yes Tom did stom his green Castrol Yamaha was parked up against the wall on the right hand side when I went through. Pykey give our best to Margaret if you see her. - pykey - 27-12-2007 Thanks Tom i will send Margaret your best wishes same to you Tom and i hope the sight gets no worse? |
