Dakar 2008 - nutty slack - 04-01-2008
Just heard that the Dakar Rally for this year has been cancelled due to some terrorist activity in Mauritania. 8 of the stages were due to go through Mauritania and so the organisers have had to make this very sad decision. :cry:

Sandys brother is currently traveling to Cape Town on his bike...........pedal power
Right now he is in Morroco.
I've just had a text from him and with trouble in Mauritania. Kenya and Nigeria. Plus all the other normal hotspots he is wondering if he should give up and head home early.
Pity really cos his online log has been very interesting and I was very much enjoying following it.

Real pity about the Dakar an event very much in the tradition of the TT man and machine against the curcuit/road/desert.
