Noticed Guy Martin pulled out of the event......Guess he didnt want to win a 250cc race and class it as his first TT win.

Excuse me and no disrespect but....the winners of this years 2008 solo TT races were......Cameron Donald , Steve Plater , Bruce Anstey and John McGuinness.....otherwise hold a couple of races at Brands Hatch and give that TT status.

In that case we'd better just delete any wins recorded on the St John's Course or the Clypse Course from the TT Records then? To hold the two "extra" races at Billown was an improvement on none in 2008.

In any case, I understand that there was racing on (part of) the Billown Course before there was ever any on the Mountain Course.

Now that's a carrot to dangle before the anoraks, John.

I shall not rise to the bait!!

RE: billown tonite - Bill Snelling - 08-06-2008

The section of the Billown Course, from Castletown Bridge to Cross Four Ways - in reverse direction - was used in the 1904 Gordon Bennett International Eliminating Trial and 1905 Tourist Trophy, both races for cars - so it was used in a TT!

Clangrats

Thanks Bill. You can have the carrot.

RE: billown tonite - Chris Thackeray - 08-06-2008

Sorry but the year is 2008......and not 1904........I still think holding two TT races on the billown circuit is a mistake. That comes from someone who loves two strokes....ME........I must dig out my TZ350 engine.
