Three 1 lap races on Senior day on machines capable of 'Grand Prix' speeds... Paul Philips has said (to me personally) there's no more practice time available, so when do these things get practiced? And who's going to ride them? The argument against having more classes is that it would be hard for riders to find the time / opportunity to fit them in. PP has also said he won't bring riders in to 'make up the numbers', so how is this all going to fit in?

Seriously this is quite an innovative decision to take but I would have thought it would take more than a year for it to become a serious proposition.
I seem to remember the late Alan Robinson MBE talking or writing something along these lines following a meeting he had with some Japanese guy.

I can think of very few other things that would encourage the most dangerous and risk-taking riding than to have everything depending on one lap - particularly as as been said, with little practice. If the machines will only last one lap at race speeds, how will they do enough practice to qualify, and wasn't there some recent correspondence about the dangers of over-stressing engines?
Other "sensible" suggestions could be night racing, naked tandem races (mixed, of course) and rolling an orange round the course by pushing it with your nose..............."fmg" as we used to say at the Saltbox!

It'll be interesting to find out exactly what these "races" are all about, who's running them, are they ACU covered etc etc.. as a marshal, I can't say I'm wildly enthusiastic about another 3 races, presumably with gaps between, and finishing when? I was exhausted by the end of the TT this year.
Mind you there was some mention of 3 wheels....

It is an almost impossible task.............
Last night on Top Gear they got better mpg out of a BMW M3 tha a Toyota Prius.....yes really thay did

Piece of cake. 70 kW motor from one of them hybrid cars and a 70 kWH
battery pack from Altairnano. Power controller attached to the throttle,
bung that in a 600 rolling chassis, plug in a BFO Optimate and you're
rockin'. 90 odd BHP and it'll run a lap easy.
Battery pack's about USD 70 grand though.......
Also, as in *all* these so called green solutions, we'll comfortably ignore
the generating of the 'leccy, and getting rid of the horribly poisonous
batteries once they're stuffed!

Good grief, that's an old chestnut. I remember that in the 60s.
Incidentally, before we all get too worked up and start looking for entry forms and start money... this news doesn't mention DTL, ACU, organising committee or anyone recognisable as TT.
It's not on the iomtt.com site, nor is there a TT Press Release about it.. so let's wait and see.
However, if you have truly found the secret of perpetual motion, or the way to run your bike on H2O, drop me a line, and I'll buy some shares!
... then I'll be able to drive over London Bridge, which I have just bought for a snip from a nice man, and am moving to be a link from the Isle of Man to the Calf............

Never pictured you camping about, MV..........
You could have 50 identical Royal Enfield diesel bikes, running on different fuels - chip-oil from a Chinese takeaway would be ok, but you would want to do another lap straight afterwards, oil used to fry onion bhajis would empty the course of spectators as they all desperately rush off to get a curry when the bike had gone by, oil from a fish-and-chippy would cause Cargo's diet to go out the window....and there would be no room for anything Japanese!
