What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Malcolm - 19-06-2010 As the result of a posting by Ian Huntly, which I feel is indicative of so many peoples thoughts these days on the "sameness" of the racing at the TT, have a look at the classes listed in the above poll and make a choice of those that you would like to see running over the mountain at the TT in the future. If you have additional classes that you think should also be put forward for consideration than please list them within your reply/posting. RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - ian huntly - 19-06-2010 Thanks for putting the poll up on site. I know people to whom I spoke on the Island were very critical of the set up as is so if we can help Paul and his team to develope a better TT, well, I for one, am all for it. I don't think we will get the two-strokes back but one can never tell. I think the race bikes must reflect bikes we can buy to ride on the road and Kawasaki have the perfect 250 which could be one bike to start a new class off. Honda, Suzuki and other manufacturers ? They have 4-stroke 250s as well don't they ??? If not, it's time they did !! Come on...this is one answer !!! RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Jo Rowe - 19-06-2010 Have managed to restrain myself and NOT vote for two-strokes! But 125's, aahh! Just THE best thing ever (apart from my little 3 year old boys!) RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Shitoffa Shovel - 19-06-2010 I would like to see a proper racing class return to the island other than the evergreen sidecars ..... Moto 2 Racing motorcycles similar to the one Ollie Linsdell rode in the Senior have to be considered for inclusion on the noise they produce alone..... Regards, Fritz,,, RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Jo Rowe - 19-06-2010 Ah but the noise doesn't meet ACU regs! RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - George - 22-06-2010 Whatever class you vote for you wont get a full grid RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - larryd - 23-06-2010 (19-06-2010, 11:01 PM)Jo Rowe Wrote: Ah but the noise doesn't meet ACU regs! But Jo - I had heard that, on account of Olie's appearance this year, ACU Events had decided not to carry out any noise testing RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Jo Rowe - 23-06-2010 Couldn't possibly comment, Larry! But I can say that the noise level from that particular bike does not meet ACU regulations. Don't misunderstand me, noise is GOOD! What ever they do they will have to say it will be in the regs for a few years, as do we all remember the singles when they were dropped suddenly. people will want to see a future in the class before investing in a machine. RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - andy kirk - 25-06-2010 i did hear some where that when 125,s are out of moto gp that they will be replaced with 250 4/strokes may be thats the future or maybe back to the future !! RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Baylon McCaughey - 26-06-2010 Ollies machine was superb to listen to, Thats what we need more of, everyone was buzing when it went past, and wouldnt it be great if there were more moto gp machines as well, aw the days of the multi cylinder machines!!, pure music RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Glue - 27-06-2010 How about a grid start for the Senior ? RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - andy kirk - 29-06-2010 just found this on crash.net what do you all think?? MOTOGP » Four-strokes to replace 125cc from 2012? The 125cc World Championship looks set to be replaced by a new, single-cylinder, 250cc four-stroke class from the 2012 season. According to GPOne.com, the new class - which will presumably be named Moto3 - will not have a single engine supplier, like Moto2, although “any manufacturer wishing to participate will have to build a minimum number of engines, from 10 to 15, at a price of 10,000 Euros”. The end of the 125cc class, the only remaining engine-size from the original 1949 world championship season, will also mark the end of two-stroke machinery in grand prix racing. In 2001 all three grand prix classes consisted of two-stroke motorcycles, but their lack of production relevance saw the premier 500cc World Championship replaced by a new (990cc) four-stroke MotoGP class in 2002, while 250cc was replaced by (600cc) Moto2 four-strokes at the start of this season. The success of Moto2, with its huge 40-rider field and unpredictable racing, is sure to have accelerated the process of replacing the 125cc class. RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - Malcolm - 12-07-2010 Not that we received a tremendous amount of people voting in the poll, although those that viewed the thread were well into the thousands. It would appear that from those persons who took time to poll their votes, that people would really like to see something different at future TT meetings, the results are: The most Popular Request is for a Single Cylinder class of bikes to return. 2nd - Moto 2 class 3rd - Super Twins 4th - 250cc Four Strokes 5th - Strokers 6th - 400cc Multi Cylinder 7th - 125cc Four Stroke There you have it Paul, an indication of what people would like to see in the future. Up to you now. RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - pat slinn - 12-07-2010 For the 100th stageing of the TT on the mountain circuit a CLASSIC race. manx's, 7R's, G50's, Gold Stars, that race should bring a lot of people to the IOM, Bye the way, when Honda wanted the noise of the winning Ducati tested after Hailwood won the F1 race in 1978...............the noise metre was broken !..Regards to all, Pat. RE: What Machine Class Would You Like To See At The TT - rc30alfie - 17-07-2010 A Classic Superbike race!!! BUT the Manx Grand Prix has already done it though!! Can,t wait until the 30th August to see it, with Ryan Farquar, Guy Martin, Ollie Linsdell and Michael Dunlop all on big proper hairy chested 1980s Formula One bikes, its going to be hard fought thats for sure. Memories of Granty, Croz and all will surely come flooding back. Hats off to the MGP organisers for getting that lot together. |
