Economic Development Minister John Shimmin has apologised after wildly inaccurate figures were mistakenly provided in a written answer to a Tynwald question.
Computer error is being blamed for the slip-up.
The figures released at the October sitting of Tynwald concerned the cost of attending various motorsport events.
For example:
The cost of attendance at North One was quoted as £5,143.73 when the correct estimate cost was just £375.
Similarly,
Attendance at the Dainese 2012 press launch was £330 not £5,182.24 as stated in the Tynwald written answer.
Costs of a visit to meet race teams and riders as part of planning for this year’s TT were even more inaccurate, at just £500 rather than the £12,600 originally quoted.
Mr Shimmin apologised for the errors.
He said the original information had been checked and it had been assumed the compiled data was also correct but the figures had been corrupted during transfer from one system to another
