The Killalane Road Races will go ahead in September, it’s been confirmed.

The original race organisers, the Loughshinny Club, issued a statement earlier this month saying it had decided to cancel the event due to a ‘breakdown in relations’ with the sport’s governing body Motor Cycling Ireland.

However, as reported in the News Letter, an independent band of volunteers organised by Motor Cycling Ireland will now run the Co Dublin meeting from September 10-11 under the banner of the Killalane Road Racing Club.

A statement issued by the newly formed club said:

“This is a Motor Cycling Ireland event with support from Killalane Road Racing Club.

“Already we have had a positive response.

Meetings to run the event will be held at the Yacht Bar, Loughshinny, at 8.30pm on every Monday leading up to the event.

We will need your support.”

Roads are due to close for practice on Saturday, September 10 from 1pm to 7pm and on Sunday, September 11 from 10.30am to 7pm.
