Jakub Smrz topped a damp morning warm up session at Oulton Park this morning ahead of the opening MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race of the day in Cheshire for the Lloyd & Jones PR Racing BMW team, nudging Christian Iddon to second place.

Iddon had held the advantage for Tyco BMW, but in the closing stages the Czech contender moved ahead to push the local rider back into second with Jake Dixon having a strong showing for the RAF Reserves Kawasaki team in third position.

Alastair Seeley made it both Tyco BMWs in the top four as James Ellison climbed the order to finish in fifth place ahead of an improving Dan Linfoot on the leading Honda Fireblade. Shane 'Shakey' Byrne led the Be Wiser Ducati charge with his team-mate Glenn Irwin in close contention with Jason O'Halloran and Sylvain Guintoli completing the top ten.
