ACU Centre solo road race championship comes to a conclusion at Jurby on Sunday

The Isle of Man ACU Centre solo road race championship hangs on a knife-edge going into the final two races of the series at Jurby Motodrome this Sunday.

Manx Grand Prix Senior/Junior double hero Mikey Evans leads the title chase by two points from close friend and rival Ryan Cringle, who has returned from a leg fracture mid-season.

He and British 600cc Superstock regular Ozzy Madey have 60 points apiece, with Dean Osborne next on 59 points with his ageing steel-framed Honda 600.

Cringle’s younger brother Jamie - in his first full season of racing - is another two points adrift on 57 points in what is the closest finish to the series in its 47-year history.

But it has been anything but a harmonious year at Jurby and this time last week the meeting was almost binned because of a lack of support.

The chairs were in danger of being binned altogether, but Dave Molyneux has rallied to troops and put off his own plans to race at Scarborough this weekend to support the event on his own doorstep.

He will have Patrick Farrance back in the chair of the DMR Yamaha in what will be their first competitive run out since announcing their return together for the 2018 TT.

Also competing in the chairs will be Ryan Crowe and Harry Payne on the HCR Triumph triple, Darren Hope/Paul Bumfrey, Karl Bennett with Cumbria’s Sarah Stokoe. Debbie Barron/Stephen Cowin and newly-crowned British FSRA/ACU F2 Cup Champions Michael Jackson and Callum Crowe in the Ireson Suzuki.

The 14-race programme is scheduled to start around 1pm.

Excellent viewing and refreshments available.
