The Southern 100 Marshals Association and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company are pleased to announce that the special discount scheme for marshals travelling to marshal at the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 International Road Races in 2019, will be in place again.

Eligibility for a special discount is by invitation from the Steam Packet Company, based on information from the Southern 100 Marshals Association of those marshals who marshaled in 2018.

The agreement between the Southern 100 Marshals Association and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has helped tremendously to attract needed additional marshals to the ‘friendly races’ and both parties are delighted to see the numbers increase in line with the growth of this popular International Road Race meeting.

Chief Marshal, Peter Chadwick said:

‘We have worked hard to attract and involve visiting marshals to come and help us on the Colas Billown Course, and all are very welcome. Whilst we have some fantastic experienced Island-based marshals, numbers are declining as sadly the younger generation are not coming into the sport to volunteer their support. We hope that this discount scheme serves as thank you and we welcome your continued support.’

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said:

‘We are pleased to offer a discount to people who give up their time to marshal at the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 International Road Races. The event couldn’t go ahead without their continued support, so we are pleased to work alongside The Southern 100 Marshals Association in encouraging volunteers to come over once again.

‘We hope to see both old and new faces at the 2019 ‘friendly races’ and look forward to offering them a warm welcome to our Island.’
