On the next lot I know who #54 is but I'll butt out for a bit and see if anyone else knows Smile

#60 is Don Ellis - 350 BSA Gold Star

Cheers for the replies sticky, it looks like you're the only one recognising those ones.

In other news, I've been sorting through some more negatives and I've found a few more from the same trip, taken in the paddock area I think. I've got 5 shots of bikes that I can't identify - anyone recognise them?

The first three are Junior TT bikes I think, all with the panels off. The next two are Formula 1 I believe - a Rocket 3 and if I'm not mistaken a Kawasaki triple, no idea of the riders though. All information and feedback gratefully received.

First one is a 250 Spondon Rotax (possibly badged as an EMC) second is a Yamaha TZ250, third is a 250 Exactweld (Yamaha TZ engine) then the Rocket 3, final one is a Yamaha TZ750

Oops that shows up my lack of knowledge - confusing a Kawasaki with a TZ!

I'm very grateful mod2 for your answers here and throughout the thread. Likewise thanks to all the others giving replies in this thread, you've all done a great job allowing me to identify my aging photos. sticky - many thanks in particular for your many replies. You also mentoned that you recognised #54 in the historic bikes pics?

The few dozen I have posted here are just a small part of the set of films I shot of the 84 TT. I think I'll post a new thread here on ttwebsite showing all of them as a photo retrospective. It looks like they might be appreciated here and it's better than just leaving them lying around on my laptop.

Cheers one & all

Yes please koala I would like to see more pictures. . If I'm not mistaken Jeff Johnson was on the gpz 900 kawasaki in the 1984 product TT. If you have any pictures of him I would like to post them on the gpz site.

Hi Koala

#54 is American rider Beno Rodi on a 500 BSA Gold Star (he approached me once for a picture i took at Jurby Roads in 1984!)

#62 is a 350 Bultaco. I think there was only one in the race, which would make it Geoff Tunstall. The leathers look right for him.

#69 I'm fairly sure this is Mac McDiarmid, who I believe was editor of Bike Magazine around that time. Leathers & lid look right. the bike would be a 250 Suzuki T20.

I haven't figured out #72 yet. It looks like a Yamaha. There isn't one noted in the results but amongst the retirements is Jim Wells, bike unknown. Could it be him?

I don't think #72 is Jim Wells, the leathers and helmet don't look right, it is definitely a Yamaha though, either a TR2 or a TR3.

I just found a pic of Eric Galbraith on a stock RD350 YPVS in the F2 race - leathers & helmet are the same as the guy on the GPZ900, so I'm now sure it's him.

Regarding #72 on the Yamaha, I'm stumped...  The riders below are retirees from the race where the bikes they were riding were not known.  There isn't a Yamaha (unless I've missed it.) in the finishers or retirees where the bike is known.  It isn't Denis Gallagher.  Lid isn't right for Sean Collister.  Will Harding rode a 182 Honda.  It isn't Jack Gow, Graham Bentman, Gordon Morss (I know Gordon) or Dave Bedlington, which is what made me think it might be Jim Wells. I found a picture of Jim from the F2 race and Mod 2 is right - it isn't him.

Bizrrely I've just managed to identify one of my own pictures! No 72 is Bob Simmons on a Suzuki. I found it on another picture site - I'm not allowed to say which one, but if you google "bob simmons 1984 tt", you'll find it immediately. Tell me if it looks right?

However I need to say thanks yet again to sticky and mod2 for the feedback and encouragement. I'll start up a thread soon in the Photographs section and then add a post here to point to it.

chrisp955 - many thanks for the comments. I believe I have a couple of pictures of Geoff (Jeff?) Johnson, but not on a Kawasaki. If I have it though, it'll get posted on the new thread.
