HICKY LOOKING TO RE-SET AHEAD OF SNETTERTON
Following a challenging opening round of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park, Peter Hickman and the Global Robots BMW Team by Smiths Racing team are looking to hit the re-set button and start afresh at Snetterton this weekend for round two.
Following a lengthy delay to the start of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, round one proved to be a challenging weekend for the world’s fastest road racer Peter Hickman. Despite two uncharacteristic crashes and issues getting his BMW S1000RR stopped, Hicky was still able to get some points on the board and is now excited to get back on his Global Robots BMW Team by Smiths Racing machine around the high-speed Norfolk circuit and get his season started.
The 2.9 mile Snetterton circuit has been a venue of mixed fortunes for Hicky in the past, but with the team working hard in the run up to the event the Superbike ace is confident he can turn his fortunes around ahead of this weekend’s triple header.
Opening practice for the Bennetts British Superbike class gets underway at 15.10 on Friday, with the opening race at 16.15 Saturday, followed by two further races Sunday at 13.30 and 16.30.
Peter Hickman added:
“I’m excited to get back out on the BMW this weekend and as a team we’re looking to hit the re-set button after a pretty tough opening round! Snetterton has always been a bit of a mixed circuit but I had a pretty strong weekend last year and we’ve made a few changes since Donington to hopefully help solve some of the issues we had.
The shortened season does make things a little different this year, but we’re not approaching this weekend any differently and we’ll be treating it in the same way we do every round. Snetterton is a definitely a high-speed circuit, but there’s also plenty of heavy braking areas and flowing corners which gives it a bit of everything.
Although fans won’t be at the circuit again this weekend, it was great to see so many staying up to date through social media at Donington so we’ll be looking to put on a great show for everyone back at home this weekend too.”
