Stuart Easton Update
[Image: msskawasakigif.jpg]

Stuart Easton has surprised doctors with his resilience and progress after his serious accident at the North West 200 road race last Thursday. The MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider is being cared for at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and will be undergoing an operation to pin his pelvis and femur on Friday.

Stuart’s wife Claire had this to say to MSS team boss Nick Morgan today,

“Stuart is having his op on Friday, maybe even earlier if they feel he’s up to it. Fingers crossed. He wants to sleep a lot so his body recovers. They were thinking of moving him onto a ward today but we feel happier if they kept him where he was in intensive care. The bruising is all starting to come out, he will be black and blue by the end of the week! They are really happy with his progress and gobsmacked by how strong and tough he is!”

For the Thruxton round of the British Superbike series Alex Lowes will stand in for Stuart on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team. Alex (20) who is currently leading the BSB ‘Evo’ series has been without a ride since the Croft BSB round.

Team owner Nick Morgan said,

“The thoughts of our whole team are with Stuart, Claire and Finlay and their families. He has lots of work to do and will need plenty of support which I know he will get. With regards to Thruxton this is a really difficult decision to make at such an exceptionally sensitive time and if I’m honest both ourselves and Alex feel terrible over the timing. That said Alex has no ride and when we approached him he was keen to try and ride the bike and continue the great development job that both Stuart and Gary have carried out.”

Alex added

“It’s a strange situation because I really wanted to get a BSB ride but this isn’t how I wanted it to happen obviously. It’s a great opportunity to get out on the MSS bike but the focus has got to be on Stuart’s recovery. He’s a mega racer and a real inspiration to lots of young riders, we all want to see him back where he belongs at BSB.”
