Police have confirmed that a visitor killed in a crash on the Mountain Road on Wednesday was a female pillion passenger on a bike.

She's been named as 49 year old Amanda Heather McNichol from York.

The accident happened just before 7am on Wednesday (30th May) at the 32nd Milestone.

Four bikes were involved in the collision.

Another pillion passenger was also hurt and is being treated for injuries which are serious but not life-threatening.

Police enquiries into the crash continue.

Officers are thanking witnesses who've come forward with information and people who stopped to help at the scene.
