Road Closures
This is lifted from Manx Radio News "Maybe not good news"
"MHK says DoT in breach of road closure regulations
The Department of Transport is in breach of the regulations which allows it to close main roads for sporting events during business hours, according to North Douglas MHK, John Houghton.
Mr Houghton is reacting to last week's International Cycling event, when main roads around the Island were closed on two consecutive days.
He says this is unacceptable, causing not only inconvenience but loss of earnings to businesses who have to use the routes every day.
Mr Houghton has tabled two questions about the issue for the opening sitting of Tynwald in October for Transport Minister, John Shimmin.
One asks why two days of closures was ever permitted, and the second asks for future applications for road closures for sporting purposes during business hours to be put before the Court for approval.
Mr Houghton says that in these days of increased pressure on the motorist, the need for road closures need to be re-considered.
Cycles now but who knows ?

Re: Road Closures
There was a lot of talk about this among ordinary people when I was over at the weekend, just in the context of the Cycling Week, and the disruption it had caused. Needs to be carefully watched.
I think perhaps the times and places of the road closures were perhaps part of the problem. TT is always the same dates and places, so no nasty surprises.
It will be interesting to see how they are about the Manx Rally this week.
