Brookes leads Buchan by 0.086s in warm up
Josh Brookes held his position at the top of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in morning warm up at Cadwell Park as the Milwaukee Yamaha rider bids to continue his consecutive run of victories, leading Danny Buchan by 0.086s.
The 15 minute session began with Shane 'Shakey' Byrne hitting the top after the opening flying laps, but it was short lived for the defending champion as Dan Linfoot moved ahead for Honda Racing at the team's home round of the season.
Linfoot's spell at the top was ended by an improvement from Brookes who pushed himself into the leading position with a run of consistently fast laps with eight minutes remaining to finish the session with the upper hand.
Buchan starts second on the grid for today's two races and the Be Wiser Kawasaki rider continued to climb the times throughout the session, closing the deficit to Brookes in the closing stages. He headed off Tommy Bridewell who will start alongside him on the front row for today's opening race.
Ryuichi Kiyonari set his fastest lap of the weekend so far to fire himself into fourth on the leading Buildbase BMW ahead of Byrne who held onto fifth place in the closing minutes. Peter Hickman and Martin Jessopp battled for sixth place with the RAF Reserves BMW rider holding a narrow advantage at the flag.
James Westmoreland was back inside the top ten for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, he held eighth position ahead of Luke Mossey and Lee Jackson who completed the top ten, with the leading 13 riders covered by 0.9s.
America's John Hopkins returned to the track after his Datatag Qualifying crash yesterday, finishing warm up in 15th position for the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati team.
