The late Dave Saville was regarded by many of his peers as the best sidecar pilot around the Island.
I was going through his long list of starts at the TT and could find two wins, both in 1990 (at over 100 mph).
However I have also noticed in write ups that he had 9 victories ?
I checked the Manx and he did start there but no wins.
Dave was not only a great rider but by all accounts an even greater example to us in his later adversity.
It seems the TT not only throws up some wonderful competitors but also some fairly special human beings as well.
Dave won the old F2 class seven times when F1 still ran at the TT. The F2 outfits (which were all 350cc two stroke powered outfits at the time) ran in a seperate class at the rear of the F1 field and Dave somehow managed to get the 350 bike into the top 15 overall on a regular basis despite giving away masses of bhp. A truly great TT competitor.
