Meeting called to discuss future of TT racing at Billown
A meeting has been called to discuss the future of TT racing on the Billown Circuit.
In 2008 the course in the south of Isle of Man played host to TT racing for the first time as the venue for the re-introduction of the Lightweight and Ultra-Lightweight races.
Both were held the day after the Senior TT, as part of the traditional Steam Packet races held at Billown.
The organisation of the TT races was handled by Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Ltd, which organises the Steam Packet festival as well as the always-popular Southern 100 races.
Now the club has called a meeting discuss the running TT racing on the Billown Circuit in 2009.
In a short statement, company secretary George Peach said:
‘Notice is hereby given that Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Ltd have called an Extraordinary General Meeting at the Masonic Lodge, Hope Street, Castletown at 8pm on Sunday 24th August to decided on the running of the TT races at Billown in 2009.’
If a decision is made it will take the TT organisers another step closer to finalising the race schedule for the 2009 TT, which starts on May 30th.
