Stars confirmed for TT parade laps - and you could join them!
Greats of motorcycle racing will line up for two very special parade laps during the 2010 Isle of Man TT.

Trevor Nation, Nick Jefferies and Steve Webster MBE have been confirmed for the TT Classic Parade, while leading World Superbike Championship rider Leon Haslam and British Superbike Championship star Yukio Kagayama will be among the famous names riding in the lap celebrating Suzuki’s 50th anniversary.

The parades are scheduled to start at 10.45am on the morning of Senior Race Day, Friday June 11, and riders will complete a full circuit of the TT course on a closed road.

In the TT Classic Parade, Nation will ride his original JPS Norton, Jefferies will ride his nephew David’s TAS Suzuki and World Sidecar Champion Webster will be joined by Paul Woodhead.

Haslam will take a break from the Superbike World Championship, where he is leading the title battle after two rounds, to join BSB WORX Suzuki rider Kagayama in the Suzuki 50th Anniversary parade lap. Also confirmed for that event are Frank Perris, who won two 125cc Grand Prix races in the 1965 championship, and Stuart Graham, son of TT legend Les, who finished third in the 50cc and 125cc championship in 1967.

Negotiations are also taking place with current MotoGP stars to line up in the parade.

As well as stars taking to the Mountain circuit during the parade laps, fans have been offered the opportunity to enter their own machines and ride as well – all racing machines or accurate replicas manufactured before 1998 are eligible.

The entry fee, including race registration and insurance, is £200 for solo riders and £275 for sidecars. All funds raised will be reinvested back into the cost of future running and development of the TT, including investment in the latest safety barriers and equipment.

The parades are limited to a combined total of 200 participants and the closing date for entries is Friday, April 23, 2010.

RE: Stars confirmed for TT parade laps - and you could join them!
imo this is a very very dangerous and potentially fatal idea!
reading the regs that can be downloaded it appears the TT organisers are inviting anyone with a bike license and suitably prepped machine for £200 to have a ride on closed roads which ACU have introduced a specific license to race on!there is no mention of what can be expected or how the person is expected to ride other than hopefully what will be provided at a briefing AFTER the person has applied and paid their money!

now we all have seen some rather heated debates re the usefulness/validity of parade laps around the course and whether they are still wanted but to put an unknown element ie untried rider on a closed race circuit with people who have raced on the course all on machines of different ages and sizes-unfortunately i'm imagining quite a few nightmare scenarios and alsorts of very public high profile national/international headlines all attacking the TT!

yes they will be expected to keep to the rules and regs but will they all stick to it?will they obey the marshals? (nb i've seen personally where some people in the parade laps in the past havent)...sorry but i just think this is a dangerous step too far

cant we just get rid of the parade laps and get another race in?
