CAME Yamaha's Billy McConnell maintained his position at the top following the opening two Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship free practice sessions after holding off the challenge from team-mate James Westmoreland.
McConnell was third in the opening session but this afternoon he upped the ante to move just 0.019s ahead of his team-mate and said: "That was the way we wanted to start the weekend and that is where I want to stay for sure. We have made a good start with the set-up and with the championship so close we can't give anything away here."
Glen Richards on the Padgetts Honda was third fastest after a spell at the top of the times ahead of joint championship leader Sam Lowes on the GNS Racing Honda and Ben Wilson on the Gearlink Kawasaki.
