IMPROVED COMMUNICATIONS FOR 2016 VAUXHALL INTERNATIONAL NORTH WEST 200
With less than 100 days until the start of Race Week at the 2016 Vauxhall International North West 200, the event organisers would like to announce some significant developments in race communications to improve the experience of competitors and spectators on May 10-14.
To improve communications for race fans, riders and teams in the start and finish area, a new large screen will be introduced above the media compound. This will be directed towards the paddock and will be visible from both the grid and the paddock. The screen will include a rolling banner with all updated information.
This new facility will bring to four the number of big screens around the circuit with two at the start and finish, one at York corner and another at Metropole.
Communications will also be improved by the supply of more regular and up to date information through the course commentary.
There are currently 80 speakers spread around the 8.9 mile circuit and this will be increased with new facilities at Mill Bank Avenue, Hill Crest Service Station and Black Hill to provide everyone with up to date information.
In addition BBC Radio Ulster provides live on course and radio commentary throughout practice and racing and they will provide constantly updated with information.
The race organisers would strongly recommend everyone has access to a radio and avails of this great service at the following times on these wavelengths.
Tuesday practice
10.30am -14.00pm 1341MW
Thursday practice
10.03am-14.00pm 1341MW
Thursday racing
17.30pm-21.00pm 1341MW
Saturday racing
10.03am-13.07 1341MW
13.07-18.00 1341MW & 94.5FM
Special NW200 radio earpieces, which will be pre set to BBC Radio Ulster, are available and can be purchased at the Belfast Motorcycle Show this weekend or from the race office prior to race week.
“We have listened to the concerns expressed by competitors and spectators alike and these measures are intended to improve the experience of everyone attending the 2016 North West 200.”
Mervyn Whyte, MBE, Event Director, said.
