Hyundai series leaders Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood (Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki) know full well that with three races on the programme, this is their chance to put the title out of reach of the talented Reeves. They enjoy a thirty-three point advantage over their Portsmouth neighbour Ben Holland passengered by Lee Watson, and a further nine-point gap ahead of Reeves. Holland/Watson on the Hannafin Kawasaki have been particularly strong this year with new-found reliability and determination.

Fourth, with an unbroken record of points-scoring finishes, is rookie Chris Walker who, with passenger Ashley Hawes, will be returning to the scene of his biggest and most memorable disappointment when his Suzuki GSXR750 expired within sight of the 2000 BSB title. That was all a long time ago, and the immensely versatile racer has long since moved on. He does however have unfinished business, so rest assured he will be bidding for his first visit to the top step of the podium on his Santander Salt Kawasaki LCR.

Whilst the World Championship race will take place at the end of the day on Saturday with the exclusion of any British runners not originally registered, there will be two combined qualifying sessions to sort the men out from the boys. It is widely expected that the Hyundai regulars, on home ground, will give a good account of themselves in this regard. Conversely, the British Championship races are open to any World runners who might fancy their chances up to a maximum grid size.
