TT winner Lee Johnston and team mate Jon-Boy Lee claimed victory in both legs of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy to take overall victory in a weekend of thrilling classic racing at the Goodwood Revival.

Johnston, winner of Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 at the 2019 Isle of Man TT Races, was reunited with the MV Agusta triple that he took third place with in the 2015 Senior Classic TT. The pairing took full advantage of the MV’s superior straight-line speed over the single-cylinder British machines that made up the bulk of the field, claiming victory by 10 seconds in the combined classifications from the two 25-minute races.

84 TT Race wins were represented in a star-studded entry list that featured 14 different TT winners with Peter Hickman, the outright lap record holder, joining Johnston on the podium. The 5-time TT Race winner finished second with team mate Andy Clews onboard their 1962 Manx Norton in an impressive debut performance at the fast and flowing Sussex circuit.

Classic TT TV presenter Steve Parrish finished fifth overall with team mate Richard Cooper, with Michael Rutter sixth and Steve Plater in seventh. Davey Todd rounded out the top ten in his Goodwood debut ahead of the likes of Padgetts Racing stablemate Conor Cummins, solo and sidecar competitor Maria Costello, the fastest woman around the TT Jenny Tinmouth, plus James Hillier, Michael Dunlop and John McGuinness.

Following a change of team mate and machine for 2019, McGuinness finished 22nd in the combined timings – a disappointment for the TT legend having taken victory in 2018. Meanwhile, James Hillier was in contention for a top 5 finish until he spectacularly high-sided his Manx Norton in the closing stages of the second race.
