Isle of Man TT ace Michael Dunlop unveils new-look Yamaha for 2021

Michael Dunlop has pulled the wraps off his Yamaha Supersport machine.

The 19-time Isle of Man TT winner unveiled the new-look livery of the Carl Cox Motorsport-backed machine on social media.

However, Dunlop’s opportunities to ride the 600 Yamaha in anger on the roads this season are limited, with the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and most Irish road races cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

His home event at Armoy remains an option for now, with the popular Irish national meeting at the end of July currently still set to go ahead, while the Cookstown 100 in September is another possibility, although Dunlop opted not to compete at the event last year, which was the only Irish road race to go ahead in 2020.

The 31-year-old did compete in two rounds of the National Superstock 1000 Championship last year on the Buildbase Suzuki and also made a rare short circuit appearance at Kirkistown in Co Down, where he won both Supersport races.

The Ballymoney man is entered for the legendary Daytona 200 in the USA in March on a Kawasaki, but Dunlop will also be looking for opportunities to get some track time under his belt closer to home, raising the prospect that the third most successful TT rider ever could take in more short circuit rounds this year, while Armoy and the Cookstown 100 also remain obvious possibilities.
