Rea looking good for race return
Jonathan Rea (Castrol Honda) has had medical check-ups and scans following his high speed get-off yesterday in official IMS testing, and the good news for the talented rider from Northern Ireland is that he has not appeared to have suffered any serious injury. He is, in fact, hopeful of a return to action in a couple of days, and is aiming to line up for the start of the season on Sunday 27th.
Speaking from his Melbourne hospital bed, Rea stated,
"The bike spat me off really hard, something like a 130mph crash but the most worrying thing was the possibility of aggravating the old injury to my hand, with my scapho-lunate ligament. But all the X-rays and CT scans have shown that there are no fractures to my wrist but maybe a fracture to the edge of my left collarbone, which I hope is a previous injury. I hope we can get out of here today and line up on the grid for practice on Friday to see how it goes. I am really optimistic because I have a range of movement in both my hands, which seemed to bear the brunt of the crash. If we can keep the swelling down to the minimum, and get on the bike without too much discomfort I will be out on the grid on Sunday trying as hard as ever."
Be right back. I am going to go find myself, and if I leave before I get back, make sure to tell me !! -
