MMCC HIGHLIGHTS EARLY SATURDAY ROAD CLOSURES FOR 2011 MANX GRAND PRIX RACES
With only three weeks to go until the Manx Grand Prix, the Manx Motorcycle Club, organiser of the Manx Grand Prix Races, are reminding people of the early road closures on Saturday 20th and Saturday 27th August.
The roads are scheduled to close at 5pm on both Saturdays and will re-open no later than 9pm.
Bill Bennett, the Chairman of the Club commented:
“We want to thank the Island’s residents for their positive response to the club’s request for a road closure to accommodate the additional practice time required for the enlarged field. This year sees an increase in the overall number of competitors as well as a greater number of newcomers taking to the Mountain Course for the first time.”
He continued:
“The Manx Motor Cycle Club expresses their thanks for everyone’s understanding, cooperation and the assistance provided by Government Departments and the TTMA and look forward to a safe and enjoyable 2011 Manx Grand Prix.”
Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK, Political Member, Isle of Man Tourism commented:
"The early road closures on the two Saturday's are really important to the Manx Grand Prix as they allow us to get the extra practice time required for the competitors in this expanded meeting. This event is growing in stature and popularity with increasing numbers of competitors and visitors and this continued growth is a vital contribution to our economy.
We very much appreciate the great support from Island residents and fully acknowledge their inconvenience caused by necessary road closures which enable this important event to continue."
