MILLER 18th IN SPLITLATH REDMOND MACAU DEBUT
Mark Miller crossed the line 18th as Splitlath Redmond made its Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix debut today.
The Californian road race ace enjoyed a solid race onboard the team’s Aprilia RSV4 machine after a dramatic weekend at the famous street circuit.
After the first free practice session on Thursday morning, the timetable was thrown into chaos as persistent rain lashed the city.
Organisers were forced to delay qualifying twice, with the hour-long session eventually taking place on Saturday afternoon and the race was postponed until Sunday afternoon.
Miller had qualified 20th on Saturday afternoon with a best lap time of 2.34:123mins, but shaved a full second off his best time during morning warm-up ahead of today’s 15-lap showdown.”
Riding a steady race from lights to flag, he finished 18th in his 12th Macau GP.
Team co-owner John Dimbylow said:
“Mark did a great job, which is a testament to his skill as a road racer and knowledge of Macau.
“We were on the back foot because we had very little time on the track. It’s the first time we’ve been here and Mark is a rider who improves every lap he does. Had we had another practice session before qualifying I’m certain we’d have started higher up the grid.”.
Derek Redmond added:
“Coming to Macau has been a fantastic experience for us all, and part of our exciting journey as a growing team. Well done to all of the team for their hard work and effort over a challenging four days.”
