Round eight of the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship heads for Cadwell Park this bank holiday weekend and comes just at the right time for all three Rapid Solicitors Racing Team riders.
After dominating last time out at Brands Hatch with a superb pole position and double victory to hold second place in the standings, Shane 'Shakey' Byrne sealed his position in the all-important end of season 'Showdown' meaning he is one of six riders guaranteed a tilt at the title. And with Podium Credits now becoming more important, the Isle of Sheppey rider knows more of the same is needed at the undulating Lincolnshire track this weekend.
Team-mate Stuart Easton is aiming to bounce back from a mid-season injury blip which has seen him drop down the standings into 12th place but with a couple of good results at Cadwell Park, the Scotsman from Hawick could thrust himself back into contention as a Showdown outsider.
Meanwhile, Ulsterman Keith Farmer is aiming to defend his narrow lead in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship where he holds sway over Australian rival Jason O'Halloran by just one point but the 'Clogher Bullet' is keen to extend that advantage at the track he finished on the podium at last year on his way to winning the Metzeler National Superstock 600 crown.
Whilst it's a busy weekend as normal at Cadwell Park for Paul Bird's BSB team, the PBM UK MotoGP team are also in action, this time at Brno in the Czech Republic for round 12 of the MotoGP World Championship whereby Cumbria's James Ellison is looking to make it seven points scoring rides in nine races aboard the Aprilia ART.
Immediately after Cadwell Park, the Rapid Solicitors Racing Team will be meeting fans in a chat show organised by North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club at the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton, North Yorkshire on Tuesday 28th August starting at 7.30pm. Shane Byrne, Stuart Easton, Keith Farmer and Paul Bird will be taking part and admission is just £6.00. Further information from Mike Reed on 07584 565700 or at

Paul Bird, Team Owner:
"Shakey proved at Brands Hatch that he is a major contender for this year's crown and he needs to ram home the advantage now. He's been training harder than ever and we had a good positive test recently as well. Stuart can still play a big part in this too as even if he can't make it into The Showdown; he can still help Shakey towards the end of the season. As for Keith, he's been racing in Supermotard recently to stay sharp and he knows nothing less than a win will be good enough and he goes well round Cadwell. Hopefully we can get a good result in Brno too as James needs to be challenging the leading CRT bikes from now on as there should be no excuses why not."
