After the disappointment of the last round at Brands Hatch Jenny Tinmouth and her Two Wheel Racing team were determined to make amends and get their season underway this weekend.
And so it proved to be, with this the second round of the championship at Thruxton which is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar.
As has become the norm, far too often, the British weather played it's part and the 3 free practice sessions turned out to have more significance than normal when the torrential rain started to fall just before qualifying and despite the best efforts of the marshals, race control were left with no choice but to cancel qualifying due to the rapidly deteriorating track conditions, so the grid positions were decided by a combination of the free practice sessions, with Jenny taking up 23rd on the grid.
Jenny got a good start in the action packed first race where the weather was still having a bigger involvement than anyone wanted with intermittent rain making the track conditions tricky to say the least. The rain stopped but only to be followed by the safety car on lap 8 due to a crash. Jenny eventually finished in 19th, only 0.1 seconds behind the rider in front.
The second race was another incident packed affair and was cut short due to a red flag after only 14 laps. Jenny was again making inroads on the rider ahead of her before the red flag and she finished in 18th place.
Rider Jenny Tinmouth said:
"I am so much happier after today, getting 2 solid finishes. We have resolved the issues we had with the bike at the last round and have also altered the set up and despite not having masses of track time due to the weather we have made definite inroads. I can't wait to get to the home round now at Oulton Park in 3 weeks time."
Chief Mechanic Steve Bradley said:
"It was great to get two races under our belt after the problems at Brands, Jen rode really well and it proved to be a good round for us with further improvements in the setup of our bike in both wet and dry conditions. We have 3 weeks off now to try a couple of things and then we look forward to our home round."
The next round is at Oulton Park 4-6th May with races being shown live on British Eurosport.
