Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) picked up the practice pace to 1’38.769s in Jerez on Saturday morning, leading the session from rivals Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda).

Pedrosa was 0.149s ahead of Lorenzo with his best time, whilst Marquez was 0.238s from P1, with Lorenzo’s colleague Valentino Rossi in fourth position (0.325s).

Rossi’s former teammate Colin Edwards (NGM Forward Racing) produced a great lap late on to go fifth on the extra soft rear tyre, with Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP) and Aleix Espargaro (also NGM Forward Racing) joining the American in a top seven group which was split by less than 0.5s.

The top ten was completed by Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech3) and Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3).

The likes of Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini), Andrea Iannone (Pramac Racing) and Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team) will do battle in Q1 later on, therefore. Danilo Petrucci (IodaRacing Project) was 22nd after a technical problem which saw him pull into pitlane mid-session with smoke pouring from his bike.
