The Milwaukee Yamaha team got the eighth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park underway with Josh Brookes and Tommy Bridewell working hard ahead of Bank Holiday’s Monday races.

Brookes already has his position in the Showdown confirmed but Bridewell will be fighting hard this weekend to score a haul of points in his quest to consolidate a position inside the top six. The opening free practice sessions produced a challenge for both riders with Brookes in fifth and Bridewell in thirteenth, but both fired up to make further progress tomorrow.

Brookes said:

“Today there has been something a bit different with the character of the bike and we don’t want to start making a load of changes as it might just need a few things checking over. We don’t want to do anything radical because we usually have a general setting and then just make some tweaks. We believe that we can look at it again in the morning as it is just out of character. In that respect we felt a bit far away today but hopefully tomorrow we can fix the problem.”

Bridewell said:

"It has been a challenging opening day really. We were quite far away this morning with the chassis and then instantly when we made some changes for this afternoon we went a lot faster straight away. We had a problem in the second part of the session which meant we didn’t do as many laps but the team will have it fixed for the morning and we will be alright.”
