RE: NEC Show
Yep, I'm there tomorrow. Not my thing at all, but I'm taking someone who wants to get into biking, seemed a sensible place to start. Not sure why I'm bothering mind, the guy will only dream of getting into biking - if it involves getting off the sofa I know it's not going to happen - still, gives me something to on a winters day.

Definatley a good place to go if there thinking of starting biking. We have been the last 2 years and enjoyed it but just feel it would be better to go every 2 or 3 years and let things change a bit.But as you say this time of year it keeps us motivated lol

Annual pilgrimage to be made on Thursday. Good day out but can't help noticing it's getting dearer every year. £10.00 to park your car seems a bit steep or is it me just getting tighter with old age?

I paid £8 there on Wednesday night for about 3 hours while at a gig. Captive audience will push up the price.

I use to go every year for a long time. Stoped going about 5 years ago when it felt like paying to go into a big bike dealers, that and the joys of the M6 northbound on the way home.

RE: NEC Show
Well I have been in to bikes for more years than I care to admit to and have never been to one of the shows yet, I just don't see the point trailing round being pushed and shoved to ogle bikes I would not want and could not afford, as for cheap gear , by what people tell me they have bought and what they paid for it, it don't sound cheap to me by the time you put the fuel in the tank to get there you pay to get in then to park then pay a fortune for something to eat and drink, no nowt cheap about it

Ps A bit like the TT then!! Do you think I should change the habits of a lifetime??

i agree the only good deals at shows now is the old gear they cant sell online
a few years back yes you could always haggle and get money off for cash
i miss going to the nec but the main reason for that is when i went i stopped with friends in wolverhampton and made a weekend of it but times have changed and not been able to do this for last 2 or 3 years

RE: NEC Show
I'll be going on the last day of the show. I stopped going for many years but have been for the last two years because (a) my parents only live 8 miles from the NEC so I get to see them and (b) because I meet up with marshalling friends who come down from Manchester for the show.

Its the time of year when I understand how the majority of you lot feel come TT. I would love to go but its getting the time off work, the expense of the Steam racket, accomodation. Maybe next year. ( I have been promising myself for years)

Giving the show a miss this year, but I do hope those of you going go to the TT stand & make it known how you feel about the decision to close the 'other sites' forum down Censored .
Grey-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.

As far as parking goes... I was at the Classic Show last weekend. If you park on the train station car park, there is a covered skywalk from the station concourse right to the exhibition halls.

I've not bothered for the last couple of years but taking a day off on Monday and going with a small group friends and family. Will be taking a packed lunch as NEC prices are sky high and all going on bikes, free parking and only a 20minute ride from where I live.Bye3
