Leading international road racing team RC Express Racing has withdrawn from this year’s North West 200 after an apparent spat with the organisers.

Rising roads talent Ivan Lintin was due to ride for the Bristol-based team at the event, but on Saturday RC Express Racing announced on social media site Twitter that it had pulled out of the meeting.

A tweet on the team’s official Twitter account @RCExpressRacing read: ‘Well folks. Unfortunately we will not be at the North West 200 but will be 100% at the Isle of Man TT. Hard decision but the right one.’

Top mechanic Danny Horne, who has previously worked for Guy Martin, Jonathan Rea, Eugene Laverty and Michael Laverty, shed some further light on the dispute, claiming on his official Twitter account @danny_horne that officials had ‘not been very accommodating’.

In a series of Tweets, team mechanic Horne said: ‘Proud to work for a team that hasnt let the NW200 “organisers” walk over them. Bring on the @_iom_tt @TT_Races organised by professionals!

‘Basically they were not very accommodating to our needs with truck awning, extremely unprofessional and really disappointing… especially with the show @RCExpressRacing put on compared to sum of the other teams that get prime positions! #jokers.’

Lintin replaced Dean Harrison in the RC Express Racing outfit, which is run by father and son team Roy and Ben Constable after the Bradford rider teamed up with Northern Ireland’s Mar-Train Yamaha squad for 2015.

Last year, Lincolnshire rider Lintin finished on the podium as the runner-up in the opening Supertwins race at the North West 200 behind Lee Johnston.

The News Letter contacted the North West 200 for a response.

UPDATE: North West 200 Event Director Mervyn Whyte issued the following statement:

“The RC Express team phoned the North West organisers today regarding the position of their team’s awning and vehicles in the race paddock.

“We offered to accommodate those requests as best we could, as we do with the dozens of other teams that attend the event.”
